anticancer drug toxicology

Cancer is a major public health problem, its incidence is increasing due to the aging of the population on one hand and the policy of screening and early diagnosis on the other. Cancer medical treatment is both an art and a science, an art as it continues to defy doctors with the need both intuition and experience to discover new treatments, a science because it offered to humanity one of the best hopes of improving the quality of life of patients,
The cancer medical treatments based on chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy. All these drugs act on cancer cells but not saving normal cells which is causing toxicities of these therapeutic.
The challenge in cancer is prevention of these side effects to reduce the toxicities short, medium and long term.
The cancer medical treatments can induce a variety of acute and chronic toxicities up to multiple organs, and hypersensitivity reactions may be life threatening. With the increase in complete remission rate, including some chronic toxicities appear more frequent. Moreover, risks are increased by multi-drug plans. A good knowledge of the complications that can occur with chemotherapy is therefore essential to avoid serious incidents that may represent a vital threat to the patient.
Thus, the research areas of our team are:
o Study of the toxicity of medical cancer treatments (hormone therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy) Medical Oncology
o Evaluation of the impact of supportive care to prevent and then improve tolerability and quality of life of patients
Our research work reflect current concerns oncology both efficiency plan security to improve the prognosis and quality of patients treated for cancer
